Cookie Consent by Traslatability Protect and comply

WordPress cookie consent that holds scripts back until visitors agree

Ask before you set a cookie, and actually hold the scripts back until somebody says yes.

A shop page with a cookie banner along the bottom. It is headed Cookies on this site, says the site uses some cookies to work and would like to use others to measure how it is used, and has an Accept all button, a Reject all button of the same size next to it, and a Choose button on the right.
The banner a first-time visitor sees: Accept all and Reject all side by side, the same size, one click each. All screenshots

What it does

  • The tags really are held back, not just asked about

Analytics and advertising scripts cannot run, or even be fetched, until a visitor agrees. Tested by counting network requests either side of the click.

  • You find out what your site is really loading

It reads your own pages and lists the third parties it finds on them, with a switch beside each.

  • Answers you can show somebody

Every answer is recorded with a random reference, the date and what was agreed. No address and no browser details.

  • Built around the thing regulators actually enforce

Accept and Reject are the same size, one click apart, in every design, and nothing is ticked in advance.

Licence questions

Questions

About the plugin first, then how your licence works.

Will Cookie Consent make my site GDPR compliant?

No plugin can promise that, Cookie Consent included. It does the technical half: scripts are held back until a visitor agrees, the question is asked fairly, and every answer is recorded. Whether your site meets the rules also depends on what you collect, where your visitors are and what your privacy policy says.

Does Cookie Consent work with my caching plugin?

Yes, without configuration. Cookie Consent sends the same page to everybody with the scripts held back, and each visitor's browser puts back what they agreed to. It empties your page cache when you activate it, change what is held back, or deactivate it. Leave scripts out of any plugin that combines them into one file.

Does Cookie Consent support Google Consent Mode and Tag Manager?

Yes. Cookie Consent sets Google's consent signals to denied before any Google tag runs and updates them the moment a visitor answers. Google Tag Manager is held back until a visitor agrees to Measurement, and each answer can be sent to its data layer as a trcc_consent event.

Will Cookie Consent slow my site down?

Very little: Cookie Consent reads each page once on its way out and rewrites the tags it recognises, before your page cache stores the result, so a cached page costs nothing extra. Third-party scripts do not load at all for visitors who have not agreed.

Does Cookie Consent work with WooCommerce, Site Kit and multisite?

Yes. With the free WP Consent API plugin installed, Cookie Consent hands each answer to it, so WooCommerce, Google's Site Kit and other plugins that read it follow the same answer. Network-activate it on multisite and each site keeps its own settings, record and visitors' answers.

What does Cookie Consent keep, and what goes when I delete it?

Cookie Consent keeps one row per answer: a random reference, the date, what was agreed and the page, with no IP address or browser details. Deleting the plugin keeps the settings and this record, your proof, unless you first turn on Delete the settings and the record when the plugin is deleted.

How your licence works

How do I install it?

After checkout you get a licence key and a download link straight away, plus an email copy. Upload the ZIP under Plugins → Add New, activate it, and paste your key into the plugin settings.

How do updates work?

Once your key is entered, new versions appear on your Plugins screen and install with one click, exactly like a plugin from the WordPress directory.

What happens when my licence expires?

The plugin keeps working. You only lose access to new updates and support until you renew.

Do staging sites use up a domain?

No. Local, development and staging copies are free and unlimited: localhost, private IP addresses, domains ending in .test, .local or .localhost, and subdomains beginning with staging. or dev. None of them counts against your plan.
