While you are editing a page
Every page and post has an Old addresses panel beside the editor. It shows the addresses that already lead to that page — with how many visitors each has brought — and takes one more without leaving the page.
That is the point of it. Renaming is handled for you; this is for the address a page had before you installed this plugin, and the moment you remember it is while you are looking at the page rather than three menus away.
An address typed there goes through the same checks as one typed on the Redirects screen, so nothing gets in that the form would have refused — and if it is refused, the editor says so rather than quietly doing nothing. In the block editor that is one of the editor's own notices at the top, once Update has finished, with the reason; an address that is added is confirmed at the bottom of the screen and the box is emptied. In the classic editor the reason is at the top of the screen that comes back after Update, and an address that is added is confirmed in the panel itself, above its list, once.
The panel is there for administrators, and for editors or shop managers once Who can manage redirects lets them in (below).
