All 17 Free Shipping Bar sections
The wording
The Wording section at the foot of Bar holds the messages, so you can see the preview as you edit them: click into a message and the preview writes it as you type, with example amounts in place of the tokens. An empty message shows no bar at that moment, and the preview says so. Five of them follow the cart:
- Cart is empty — the first thing a visitor sees, and the line that tells them free shipping exists at all.
- In progress (browsing) — shown everywhere except the cart and checkout.
- In progress (cart and checkout) — a shopper reading their cart is closer to buying, so it is worth asking for the top-up more directly.
- Almost there — once the cart is close, this takes the place of both in-progress messages, on every page, until free shipping is unlocked.
- Free shipping unlocked — the moment worth celebrating.
There is also Shipping is always free, for when delivery is free with no minimum at all, and two for the product page reminder, shown under its bar: This product unlocks free shipping and This product does not count. See The product page's line about the product above.
Every token works in every one of those messages: {remaining}, {goal}, {total}, {items}, {percent}, {shop_link}, {cart_link} and {checkout_link}. You can use bold, italics and links too.
Label in product lists is different: a few plain words, at most 40 characters, the same under every product that gets it, with no tokens and no links (it sits inside the product's own link). Click into it and the preview shows it under an unlocked bar. Empty it and no product list shows a label. See Ships free in the product lists above.
Until you edit a message, it appears in your site's language — the plugin ships in Spanish and French — and on a Multisite network each site uses its own. A message you have written yourself is shown exactly as you wrote it.
Almost there#
Bar → Wording → Almost there, and Show “Almost there” from (%) under the messages.
From that share of the free shipping amount (80% unless you change it, anything from 50 to 95) until the amount is reached, the bar says Almost there! Just {remaining} more for free shipping. instead of the in-progress message, while browsing and in the cart alike. With a threshold of 50, a cart of 39.50 still gets the in-progress message, one of 40.00 reads Almost there! Just £10.00 more for free shipping., and one of 50.00 has unlocked free shipping. It is measured in money, so a cart of 39.99 is not there yet even though its bar rounds to 80%. It changes with the cart, without a page load, wherever the bar does: the classic cart, the Cart and Checkout blocks and the Mini-Cart.
Every token works in it, it is translated like the other messages, and clicking into it (or into the percentage) shows it in the preview on an example cart at 85%. Empty the box and it is off: the in-progress messages show all the way to the threshold.
A shop that had the plugin before this message existed keeps its wording exactly as it was after the update, with this message off. Its Dashboard offers it once, drawn in the shop's own bar, while the bar is live: Show this message switches it on in the shop's language, No thanks leaves it off for good, and writing your own wording in the box switches it on too.
Multilingual shops#
On a shop running WPML with String Translation, or Polylang, the messages you have written yourself can be translated like any other text on the site. They are listed under Free Shipping Bar for WooCommerce once you have opened or saved the Bar screen, and each shopper sees the wording in their own language. Messages you have not edited need nothing: the plugin's own translations cover them.
