The update page says WordPress will not let it write to wp-content

Updated Coming Soon and Maintenance Mode 1.12.0Tested with WordPress 7.1

Your host keeps wp-content read-only for the web server, which some managed hosts do on purpose, or DISALLOW_FILE_MODS is set in wp-config.php. Updates then show WordPress's own message. Ask your host to let WordPress write wp-content/maintenance.php, or leave it: nothing else in the plugin needs it.
