Answer

Can I bring my redirects over from another plugin?

Updated Redirects 1.8.1Tested with WordPress 7.1

Yes. From Redirection, Rank Math, Yoast SEO Premium or Safe Redirect Manager there is no file to make: open Settings, and Redirects from Other Plugins lists the ones it found in this site's database, even if that plugin is already switched off. Press Preview to see what will come across and what will stay behind and why, then Import. Your own redirects are never overwritten, and nothing is changed in the other plugin.

A regular expression, a rule only for signed-in visitors or one referrer, a "contains" rule, and a redirect switched off there stay where they are and are listed, because a rule that only half matches sends some visitors somewhere else. Switched off means what the other plugin goes by: a Redirection redirect you switched back on inside a group that is switched off is still served there, so it comes across. Where Redirection holds the same old address twice, the one Redirection tries first (the lower position number) is the one that arrives, unless it has to stay behind for a reason of its own, such as being only for signed-in visitors. Then the other one arrives.

Two kinds come across a little narrower than they were, and the preview counts each. Rank Math's Starts With for a folder, such as shop/, arrives as the section /shop/*: /shop/boots still redirects, but /shopping, which Rank Math also caught, no longer does. A plain Apache Redirect /old /new line arrives as /old alone, though Apache also moved /old/anything. A 308 arrives as a 301, which browsers and search engines treat the same way.

On a site in a folder, such as example.com/shop, redirects imported from Yoast SEO Premium by an earlier version of this plugin can send visitors to the folder twice (/shop/shop/new-page). Importing again leaves them as they are, because they are already here: delete them under Redirects, then import again, and they arrive with the folder once.

Afterwards switch the old plugin's redirects off yourself; the Dashboard reminds you while it is still redirecting. If you keep them switched on deliberately (Yoast SEO Premium has no switch for its redirects), press Dismiss on that note.

Rank Math's free version exports only .htaccess or Nginx rules. Paste those into Settings → Server Redirect Rules instead: the simple forms are read, and every line that was not is counted, with the first 50 listed by line number. So is every line of a block that applied to some requests only: an Nginx if, an Apache <If>, <IfVersion> or <Directory>, or a server block for another domain.

From any other plugin, export a .csv and use Import redirects under Settings. A header row or none, any recognisable column order, commas or semicolons — all read. Every row still goes through the same checks as one typed into the form, so nothing gets in that the screen would have refused.

For a very large list — thousands of rows from an old platform — use the command line instead: wp trrd import your-file.csv. A browser upload has a size limit and a time limit, and a request that dies half way leaves you guessing about what got in. One file is read up to 20,000 rows; past that the command says how many rows it did not read, so split the list and import the rest as a second file.
