Answer

I deleted a page. Do I need to do anything?

Updated Redirects 1.8.1Tested with WordPress 7.1

It is already on Broken links, at the top, marked you deleted this page and carrying its title. Press Redirect this and choose where its visitors should go.

Where it can, the row offers the obvious place for you, under Probably meant: where it lived. A product offers its product category (the primary one, if Yoast SEO or Rank Math has one set), a post its category, a page under another page its parent: Where it lived: Shoes (product category). One click fills in the redirect form with both addresses, and nothing is saved until you save it. Uncategorized is never offered, and neither is your home page, so a post filed only under Uncategorized, or a top-level page, offers nothing and is yours to decide. Retiring several products at once, tick their rows and choose Redirect each to where it lived: the screen asks first, naming how many, and leaves alone any it has no home for. Pages deleted before this version have no home recorded.

It appears with no hits, because nobody has asked for it yet — the point is to deal with it while you are thinking about it rather than after the first complaint.

If you had renamed it before, its older addresses are on the list with it, and the redirects that kept them working are deleted, because they led to the page you deleted. That is not done when you already have a redirect for its last address, since the older ones reach it through that, or while Broken links is switched off. Posts and products work the same way.

A page that was in the bin before you updated keeps its old redirects until the bin is emptied, and they are moved to the list then, as long as Broken links is switched on.
