Can the timer link to the sale, or send people somewhere when it ends?
Both. Link text and Link address, under Text, put a button beside the clock in every placement, the top bar included. When the timer ends → Go to another page sends a visitor who watches it reach zero to the Page address you give, once. Somebody who opens the page after the end is not sent anywhere, and a timer in a shop listing, or one following a variable product's variations, never takes a shopper away from the page.
