I set a schedule and it kept showing afterwards
A page cache can outlive the moment a schedule ends: the copy your visitor is served was made while it was still running. Keep the pages this appears on out of your cache if the timing has to be exact, or accept that it may linger for as long as your cache does.
Nothing about the schedule itself is approximate — it is worked out against your site's own clock, under Settings → General.
