Answer

Part of a custom field, a password or a filter went missing when I saved it

Updated Bulk Editor 1.7.0Tested with WordPress 7.1

Earlier versions cleaned these the way WordPress cleans a line of prose, which takes out every % followed by two of the characters 0 to 9 and A to F, capital or small, as in a web address's %20. It also folds spaces into one and writes a lone < as <. So a Yoast title template %%category%% became %tegory%%, a product password Trade%2026 became Trade26, a Select option 30%BF became 30, and a filter for the coupon code 30%BFRIDAY looked for 30RIDAY. They are now kept as typed; a password, like a filter, is still trimmed at either end.

Backslashes went too. Custom fields on products, coupons and reviews lost them, and so did a list field on an order the first time it was saved. A product's name, description, short description and password, a coupon's description and an order's customer note lost them whenever the grid saved them, even when the change was to another cell such as the status. They are now kept whoever saves. Up to 1.5.1, anyone who may not post unfiltered HTML, such as a shop manager or a site administrator on a network, still lost them from those fields (the password apart). Up to 1.5.2, a variation's description and a variable product's default attributes lost them whoever typed them into the grid; they are kept now too.

What was saved before stays as it was saved: type the value again (for a Select option, correct it in Custom fields and save; for a filter in a saved view, apply it and save the view again) to put it right. A password changed this way no longer matches the one you gave customers until you set it again.
