Will it slow my site down?
Not for the people who never use it. A reader who leaves the page light downloads about seven kilobytes — a small script and a small stylesheet. The engine that does the re-colouring is about 38KB and is fetched the moment somebody chooses dark, and never before.
If you pick A plain stylesheet on the Appearance screen there is no engine at all: the colours are written into the page and no JavaScript runs after it loads.
