Will it help my search rankings?
Not by itself — no plugin does that. What it does is give every heading a clean, permanent anchor, which is what a search engine needs in order to offer a jump-to link straight into the right part of your page, and what anybody sharing one section of your article needs in order to link to it at all.
Whether Google shows those links is Google's decision. Having the anchors is the part you control.
