Answer

Can I import my existing articles?

Updated Help Centre 1.12.0Tested with WordPress 7.1

Yes: Help Centre articles are ordinary WordPress posts of their own type, trhc_article, so any importer that lets you choose the post type can bring them in.

What goes where:

  • Title, content and excerpt go into the post's own fields. Search weighs the excerpt above the body.
  • Topic is the trhc_topic taxonomy. An article with no topic is found by search but is not listed on the front page.
  • Keywords, extra words customers search for, are trhc_tag.
  • Order is the post's menu order, which sets the order on topic pages.
  • FAQs are a separate type, trhc_faq, grouped by trhc_faq_group.

A worked example: save your old knowledge base as a CSV file with title, content, excerpt and category columns. In WP All Import, choose the file, import into Articles, map the columns, and send the category column to Topics.

Moving from another site that runs Help Centre is simpler: Tools → Export there, then Tools → Import → WordPress here.
