Answer

Words in angle brackets are missing from a subject or a note

Updated Help Centre 1.12.0Tested with WordPress 7.1

A request's subject, a reader's note and a search on the Requests screen are kept on one line with anything shaped like an HTML tag taken out: a < followed by a letter (or /, ! or ?) and closed by a >. So Press <Enter> to continue is kept as Press to continue. A < followed by a number, a space or =, as in under <5 kg or a <= b, stays, and so do a % and a backslash. A < straight before a letter that nothing closes, as in a<b, is kept with a space after it (a< b), so it cannot start a tag. A request's message keeps its line breaks, but a tag a message may not hold, such as <Enter>, is taken out of it too. A message keeps paragraphs, bold, italic, lists, links, code and quotes; anything else is shown as its words. To show such a word, write it without the angle brackets. Subjects kept by version 1.10.0 or earlier stay as they were stored.
